I am Wypke Zandbergen, born and raised in the Netherlands. I studied journalism and psychology and came to Tenerife in 1996. I have been working in real estate since 2003. The nice thing about the job, I think, is the contact with people of different nationalities, ages and backgrounds. I can help most customers in their own language. In addition to Dutch, I speak English, German, French and Spanish.
For most people, buying property is the biggest expense in their lives and an activity that is by no means commonplace for them. If the property is abroad, from which one does not know the language and procedure, this is particularly demanding. I enjoy helping you to find the right property for you and to discuss all details of the property with the customer.
Where the purchase of a property announces a new beginning for the buyer, the situation is different for the seller. For foreign owners, this sometimes means the end of the "Tenerife" era, due to circumstances such as old age, illness, the death of a partner or other circumstances. I think it's important to keep an eye out for the emotions involved.
My working method
The facts are of course important when presenting a property. How big the property is, I see in the property file, year of construction comes from the cadastre, height of the object I get from Google Earth and property tax and any additional costs I get in writing from the owner.
For me, creating the synopsis doesn't mean choosing the best photos and inserting them in a random order. I want to give a good overview of the object, and I am showing photos of a room that were taken from different corners. Based on the selected order of the photos, a tour of the object is carried out, in which the text in the synopsis has a supporting effect.
As for the photos: I don't work with wide-angle lenses that turn small spaces into ballrooms. A distorted picture leads to disappointments among customers and loss of time for customers, owners and brokers. Nobody is waiting for that. I would rather hear that the property looks better in reality than in the pictures, rather than the other way around.
Photoshop is a practical tool, for example to improve the light balance. You can also remove the 20 fridge magnets or reduce the number of paintings so that the picture looks calmer. What I don't do is remove disruptive elements that I really cannot remove, such as Electricity pylons, cables or other solid objects.
What I strive for in my work is the win-win situation with a fair price for buyers and sellers, in a harmonious atmosphere. And sometimes that leads to friendships between the parties, then the mission is more than successful!
